Yum! Frittata!

Today is Day 4 of the ShanBob Diet, and that means – food! This one photo sums up Days 1-3 : So last night I prepared my recipe for a crustless, cheeseless quiche (aka, frittata!) It couldn’t be more easy to make. It is super low in calories, high in protein and veggies and hey,… Read more »

Tired

I am tired. I mean… SO freakin tired. I don’t really know why. Maybe it’s because I am now officially “over thirty” haha!  but I don’t think that is it. I’ve never had an issue with energy. I don’t need coffee to get me going, and I don’t usually feel tired until I am about… Read more »

Teeny Turnips

I learned two important lessons yesterday. 1. Turnips stink while being dehydrated. My entire house smells like sour garbage now. 2. Turnips start out very large, and end up very, very small. These are freshly sliced turnips, after being tossed in olive oil, salt & pepper. They are about the size of a regular potato… Read more »

His & Hers

When I do a juice fast, it’s not like I can just shut out food and cooking entirely and focus on only making juice. I, like nearly every woman I know, am responsible for feeding other hungry mouths! I cook for Joel for dinner, and my brother for lunch. (to his credit, Bry has been… Read more »

Accidental Apple Sauce

Oh dilemma. Dilemma solved – Mmmm sauce!!  I’ve been reading… Read more »

Spiralized

I’ve been loving the heck out of my new veggie spiralizer! I have enjoyed that zucchini spaghetti multiple times since I discovered it. The only other thing I’ve tried so far is cucumber spirals.  I used a different blade for this, and it made the cucumber into one long continuous strip of tasty. I splooshed… Read more »

Zucchini is the new spaghetti

A few weeks ago, Groupon was selling a vegetable spiralizer for fourteen bucks and I could not resist. Last night, I finally had the opportunity to try it out.  I wanted to make a zucchini spaghetti dish, similar to the Rawicotti I had made before (and loved so much!) I decided to wing it this… Read more »

Orange pulp experiment

I am often asked what I do with the pulp from my juicer. The answer, is that I toss it in the garbage.  The entire point of juicing is to separate the juice from the fiber, so there isn’t much left nutritionally in the waste bucket.  Some people use it in their compost and gardens… Read more »
